Geometry Dash Press Start delivers a short yet intense platforming adventure. Master tricky sections, handle rapid transitions, and face the Skeleton.
Why Was Geometry Dash Press Start Created?
Geometry Dash Press Start was released as part of Geometry Dash SubZero, a version designed to deliver a short but highly entertaining Geometry Dash experience. Instead of stretching the familiar formula across endless obstacles, the level focuses on creating memorable moments within a relatively short playthrough.
Press Start also does more than simply reuse the classic Geometry Dash formula in a new level. It combines different gameplay mechanics with visual effects to create a clear sense of rhythm and progression. Camera zoom is one of its most noticeable features. The view constantly shifts with the action, sometimes opening up the space ahead and sometimes pulling closer to the character. These changes add extra pressure and make every decision feel more important.

How to Play Geometry Dash Press Start
Gameplay
At its core, Press Start keeps the classic Geometry Dash gameplay style. The character automatically moves forward, while your job is to react at the right moment and avoid the obstacles ahead. Jump too early and you may hit an obstacle. React just a little too late, and your run can end instantly.
The fun comes from the constant changes in movement styles. Cube, Ball, Ship, and Robot each handle differently, forcing you to adapt quickly instead of relying on the same rhythm throughout the entire level.
Controls
- Mouse Click: Control the character.
- Spacebar: Jump or perform the corresponding movement.
- Tap: Control the character on touchscreen devices.
Press Start does not require complicated controls. The real challenge comes from reading the level, following its rhythm, remembering patterns, and reacting quickly to the changes appearing on screen.
Three Secret Coins
Completing the level is only part of the challenge. Press Start also hides 3 Secret Coins in carefully chosen locations. Collecting all three shows that you have mastered more than just the main route and also unlocks an additional Cube icon.
Coin 1
The first Secret Coin can be found during the Ship section, close to the moment when the Skeleton appears. After the boss launches its first attack, you need to guide the Ship upward to reach the hidden area. It is easy to miss when you are focused entirely on following the main path.
Coin 2
The second coin appears during a Cube section featuring an area marked "1-1". This part requires you to activate the Jump Rings in the correct order to open the route toward the Secret Coin. What initially looks like a familiar section quickly turns into a small puzzle that rewards precise timing.
Coin 3
The final Secret Coin is located in the Ship section near the end of the level, at around 92% progress. After avoiding another Skeleton attack, guide the Ship close to the upper part of the screen and grab the coin before continuing toward the finish.
Skeleton Boss - An Unexpected Chase
One of the most memorable elements of Press Start is undoubtedly the Skeleton Boss.
During the second half of the level, a giant pixelated skull suddenly appears and begins chasing the character. From that moment, the atmosphere changes. You are no longer simply moving through a series of obstacles. You must keep moving while also watching for attacks coming from behind.
The Skeleton becomes the focus of a full-on confrontation, repeatedly appearing on screen and firing energy attacks. Dodging these attacks requires steady Ship control, especially as the speed and pressure continue to build.
Difficulty and Playtime
Press Start is rated Normal and awards 4 Stars, making it a fitting opening level for Geometry Dash SubZero. Compared with Nock Em and Power Trip, it offers a more approachable challenge while still introducing enough mechanics to keep players focused from the very beginning.
With a playtime of roughly a minute and a half, Press Start does not try to make the challenge longer than necessary. Instead, it uses almost every moment to introduce something new: a perfectly timed jump, a gravity change, a sudden transition, or the unexpected arrival of the Skeleton.
That is ultimately what Press Start is about. A level does not need to be long to leave an impression. When every second has a purpose, even a short journey can make you want to hit restart and try again. And when the words Press Start appear, the real adventure is only getting started.
